Russian visa services in the USA

Welcome to the Real Russia dedicated Dragoman Overland page!

Real Russia is very happy to help you obtain the visas you need for what promises to be the trip of a lifetime for your journey between the thoroughly ancient modern capital of Beijing in China, across the wilds and deserts of Mongolia, the steppes and mountains of Kazakhstan, through the Russian heartlands to St. Petersburg on Russia's Baltic coast... and of course back again!

We hope the information given below is comprehensive but if you do have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us on dragoman@realrussia.co.uk or +44 (0) 20 7100 7370 and we will be happy to help.

Which visas do I need for my trip?

For the Dragoman Overland XPB28 trip from Beijing to St Petersburg the following visas are required:

Chinese tourist visa - single entry valid for 30 days

Mongolian tourist visa - single entry valid for 30 days (not required for US passport holders)

Russian business visa - double entry valid for 90 days (Please write “Cultural” in the Comments section of this online form)

Kazakh tourist visa - single entry valid for 30 days

How long does it take to get the visas I need?

We will process your visas "back to back" at the required consulates, and, assuming that you are using the standard processing (cheapest service) then it will take a maximum of 20 working days (approximately 4 weeks) from receipt of your applications, excluding any UK public or consular specific public holidays.

If you require your visas processing quicker than this, then please contact us directly on dragoman@realrussia.co.uk or by phone +44 (0) 207 100 7370 and we will be happy to advise you of your options.

If you hold a passport from a country not listed below you will require support documents for a visa to Kazakhstan which will take an additional two working days to process and incur extra charges:

Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Lichtenstein, Luxemburg, Malaysia, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland or USA.

How far in advance can I apply?

We can apply for your Chinese visa a maximum of 90 days before your exit day from China.

We can apply for your Mongolian visa up to 90 days before your exit date from Mongolia.

We can only start the application for your Russian visa 45 days in advance of your visa start date.

We can apply for your Kazakhstan visa as far as 6 months in advance of your entry into Kazakhstan.

It is therefore advisable to apply to us for your visas between six to seven weeks before the start of your trip, if this is not possible then please contact us directly on dragoman@realrussia.co.uk or by phone +44 (0) 207 100 7370 and we will be happy to advise you of your options.

What paperwork is required for the visas?

Generally you will need to provide the documents listed below and we will provide all other necessary documents and support.

How much will it cost?

If you are using the standard service for the processing options, which takes about four weeks, then the visas will cost as listed below. If you need faster processing or you hold a passport of a certain nationality then you may find that the visas cost more, again, we will advise you of this when you apply.

I'm not in the UK and / or not a British citizen, can you process my visas?

Unfortunately we are not able to process Chinese and Russian visas for non-EU nationals who cannot prove residency in the UK.

If you are not in the UK when applying for your visas you would need to send your applications to us by courier and we would return them the same way. All you need to do is complete the credit card authorisation form, enclose this with your applications and we will charge your card directly for the return courier to your requested address.

For the return courier, please ensure that you give us the full return address including a post code and local contact telephone number.

What details should I put on the applications?

The tour starts on 13th July 2008 from Beijing in China.

A Chinese tourist visa is valid for 90 days from the date of issue for a maximum visit of up to 30 days within the validity period. If you apply too early and your exit from China falls outside of the validity window, we will hold your application until the earliest time and then submit it to the consulate for processing.

For the Chinese visa please set the exit date as 25th July 2008 and regardless of which country you arrive from you should select the departure city as Beijing and the country departing to as Mongolia. The cities you will be visiting are Beijing and Mutianyu.

For the Mongolian visa set your date of entry to 17th July 2008 entering from China to Zamin Uud and departure from Ulaanbaatar to Russia.

For the Russian visa set your entry date to 7th July 2008 with entry from Mongolia to Barnaul and departure from Barnaul to Kazakhstan. The cities you will be visiting should be Moscow, Kazan, Samara and Nizhny Novgorod. This visa start date will ensure we can apply for your visa in good time and it will be valid for the duration of your Dragoman trip. If you are planning to stay in Russia beyond the end of the Dragoman trip, you may be better opting for a different start date or even a 6-month multi-entry visa to cover your stay; in this case please feel free to contact us for advice relating to your particular plans.

For the Kazakh visa set your entry date to 15th August 2008 with entry from Russia to Ust Kamenogorsk and departure from Aral to Russia.

For all visas except the Chinese one, do not adjust the end date calculated by our system to ensure that the visas are prepared for the maximum validity period. Remember, for the Chinese visa please set the exit date as 25th July 2008.

What will happen when I select the services I want?

1

For each visa application we will ask you to fill in a simple online form with details about yourself and the trip.

2

You will receive an automatic email containing the relevant consulate visa form and with instructions on how to continue with your application.

3

Where applicable, you complete the consulate visa application form with any missing or required details and sign the forms; then you send the forms, along with your passport and a single colour passport photograph per application to us. Dragoman will supply the company support letter for the Russian visa application.
That's it, that's all you have to do!
4 We will generate your visa support documents, complete all the necessary forms and submit your completed visa applications to the relevant consulates at the right time in the right order. During the processing of your application, we will be on hand to answer any queries a consulate may have and to ensure that your application is dealt with in a timely and efficient manner.
5 The day each visa is ready we will collect and check it in person; having organised the final visa we will return your passport to you using your chosen delivery method or hold it at our office for your collection.

You can follow the progress of your order through our online order tracking system which will detail the steps taken and the steps remaining to obtain your visas. You will also receive regular visa status updates by email.

OK, I am ready to order - what do I do next?

To start the process first please download, print and complete your Dragoman visa request form then click on the links below for the visas you need to open the online application form, fill in the details and follow the instructions.
