irish_stan - 2012-06-26 9:13 PM Hi Michel Yes completely agree. What i do though is as soon ias the booking is complete it also deatils the original carrier booking ref. I then log into Lufthansa etc and enter the code in there just to confirm all is OK. My guess is that the currency exchange between pound/euro might not always get passed on directly through the airlines. I saved £45 last time going through the dutch agency than going through Lufthansa direct which on a £210 flight is quite a saving :-)

It seems that they are ALL shaggin the Ruskies then, cos a flight from mos to lon HR, Gat, Brum, return this week is being quoted at £500+ return, BA, BMI, Aeroflot all weighed in at over £700..........

Will have to wait a while I suppose.....

I agree Mel but why do they do it?
There is something confusing about train and plane prices. I went to London recently and had to be there reasonably early. The fare was hideously expensive but..... the train was almost empty. Likewise on one of my journeys to Moscow - I had booked 6 weeks in advance and got a reasonable fare but just out of interest I checked the day before I flew and the prices were astronomic, but again the plane was at most a third full. I don't know anything about the business of running an airline or a train company but I would imagine that you would make more money having a full plane with people who had paid reasonable prices than a plane which is only a third full with people who mostly bought cheap tickets months ago. Doesn't make sense to me.

Hi Mel

I think you are always shafted booking close to travel. The only way for cheap flights now is to book to advance. I have my flights booked for New Year already :-)
