| Hi
Me and my husband would like my sister and her baby child to visit me (they live in Russia). Baby is only 10 months old. Do we need to fill in a separate visa application form for him or one application form for my sister where she indicates that he will travel with her is enough? Could not find this info on the UKBA site but it does say that children under the age of 18 should apply for the visa. Can anyone who had applied before with kids please advise?
Regards,

Location: South Oxfordshire, UK & St. Petersburg, Russia | All Russian children (including babies) must have their own Russian international passport to travel abroad and this must contain it's own valid UK visa for the baby to visit the UK. The parents will need to fill in and pay for a separate visa application for the baby. A baby cannot travel to the UK on the mothers UK visa.

| Thanks a lot Gary. Yes, my nephew has a separate international passport but I thought that there is no need to fill in a separate visa application form. So my sister will have to sign the application form on behalf of my nephew (obviously as he is only 10 months old) |

| Gary, please let me know if my sister has to pay for her baby's visa - $129 as well? I could not find this info at all. If the answer is yes, then is it the same for the people who gets spouse visa with kids, do they pay the visa fee twice?
Thanks, |

Location: South Oxfordshire, UK & St. Petersburg, Russia | A fee is payable for each individual visa application regardless of the age of the applicant so the answer is yes, the full visa application fee will also be payable for the baby's visa.
The fee pays for the processing costs involved for an ECO to review a visa application and then issue a visa. A baby's visa application goes through exactly the same processing channels as an adult visa application so the costs are the same. Unfortunately the fee isn't waived or discounted for a child's/baby's visa.
It also works the other way round. If a UK citizen wants to take their baby (a non-Russian citizen) to Russia, they also have to apply for a separate Russian visa for the baby and pay the full visa fee.
Probably not what you wanted to hear because it means more money to pay but that's the way it is unfortunately. |
