| Hi
I'm going to be sending a parcel to Moscow soon and it will contain three bags of sweets and one 330ml can of soft drink as well as some books and a tie, I'm going to use Royal mail to send the package but I was wondering if you guys could give me any advice about how to fill out customs forms. I am a complete novice so any advice to get this package there would be really useful.

Location: Kent | From memory, if you keep the parcel under 2kg, it will save you alot of money and also the customs form. I've received some parcels in January and it was just written on the outside of the box what was in it. If your parcel goes over 2kg, the price hike is quite alot and the customs form has to be done. I think this info is still correct. |

however, you'll still need a customs form (sticky label)
My very own FSB (wife) sends a small parcel every 2 weeks and has to go through this each time. "socks", "english fishing magazine","oxo cubes"
seriously - you may have a problem with food and especially soft fizzy drinks. I recall seeing a webpage on the DHL site somewhere about non-allowables and even Tea was on the list ( the stuff in a bag, not a cup). So when T sends oxo cubes, she hides them in a corner of some small folded thing and doesnt mention it. Its an issue TBH.. not everything gets through, which is why she sends every fortnight. Something to do with some lazy, o/weight mrs nasty at the Moscow sorting office and maybe a tea-leaf somewhere from there to Mineralnye.
Advice? To make the To-address completely in Russian, with the word 'RUSSIA' in angli at the bottom.
The time to arrive - between 2 and 6 weeks. SiL got his Man Utd footie shirt for his b'day pressie, but one month late. MiL still waiting for hers (Newcastle Utd) - one month late.

| Thanks for the replies guys, it would be a can of old jamaican ginger beer. If the package gets opened will they just take out the food if its not allowed and send the rest on its way or will the package just not arrive at all? |

Tins and bottles are not allowed by the Russian customs, though you may be lucky to get a parcel through... I would suggest that the reason for any delay at the moment and for the forseeable future is the new centaral sorting area for all international incoming/outgoing mail.....They got problems with the new automatic machinery there....or so I have heard... Simon, youre lucky to get cheese through, all milk based items are banned without a certificate from the Russian Govt... |

| I have a friend who always takes mature cheddar back to his mother in Moscow whenever he visits England. In his hold baggage. Is he breaking the law? What are the penalties? сибирь ???? |

| There maybe a law against it but worst case it would just be confiscated, I've took fresh English strawberries in the past. At customs they don't appear to be interested in whats coming in from the EU, but from elsewhere that's a different story.

- Very Strong Mature Cheddar.
- Colemans Mustard Cheddar.
- Haggis.
- White (mealy) Puddings.
- Neaps.
- Sweet potatoes.
When Alla travels back to Russia from the UK she also has the same combinations in her hold luggage + potted plants (soil and all) in her carry-on luggage. So far neither of us have encountered any problems.

When Alla travels back to Russia from the UK she also has the same combinations in her hold luggage + potted plants (soil and all) in her carry-on luggage. So far neither of us have encountered any problems.
I have only been checked once by Customs in Moscow on my many visits but while I don't normally have fresh produce, I normally have a bottle or 2 of Whisky plus a selection of Biscuits and sweets, including once 2 bags of broken biscuits from the Burtons Biscuit Factory in Edinburgh. My wife once had a Scottish breakfast pack again this got in without incident. |

Lorne Sauage, Black pudding, Fruit Pudding, Round Sausages, Bacon, yes it does give you a coronary. |
