Location: When at home either Sakhalin Island or Scotland | Hi.
I got my fiancée to go to her bank and get a full print out of her account details, I then took the print out to my bank in the UK and they got all the data they needed to make transfers.
By the way sure that when you do transfer money you pay all the charges, i.e. both your bank charges and her bank charges (it is much, much cheaper). |

All banks in russia have a swift no which puts the money directly into your acc here, I just went to my bank, asked them for the swift no, and transferred money, last time it took 2 days to get here, no probs..... Remember previous advice from Rasboink, pay the senders and receivers bank charges, its much cheaper... good luck.... ps, where is your wife, ie which city, and which bank does she use......????? |

| Hi
Try Moneygram, its really simple and you can send from your local post office, transfer takes about 10 minutes. It is much more secure than Western union, we have used it 3 times so far, no problems at all! All she needs to do is locate the closest bank that accepts Moneygram, you can do this by looking on the website and finding the closest agent in her city!
p.s the charge for sending £300 was only £10, pretty good we thought.

Location: Volgograd & Moscow | Yup all banks with have a Swift, IBAN and BIC.
The IBAN and SWIFT is all you need to send money, these are international words so the bank should be able to understand what she needs, further, remember many banks in Russia have a prefered intermediary bank that they may request you send the money through to make the transaction smooth.

Location: South Oxfordshire | Hi all,
thanks for the replies, i managed to send some money with the new details my wife sent me. Shame i didn't read your posts beforehand and pay the charges at her end as advised.....DOH!!!! Any idea how much the charges will be that she has to pay? Chris, you were right, she has a Sberbank account in Izhevsk but the payment goes via an intermediary bank as you said, in this case, via the Zapadno - Uralsky head office in Perm.
thanks again everyone,
Paul. |

Location: Liverpool | I have a similar problem trying to send money to my girlfriend in Yaroslavl. She has given me her account details and I tried to set up a transfer via my internet bank. She has given me two sets of account details:
a) Beneficiary Account - SBERBANK with a long account number in the form NNNNN.NNN.N.NNNN.NNNNNNN/NN and a SWIFT code
b) Correspont Account - BANK OF NEW YORK with an account number and SWIFT code
My Internet Bank doesn't recognise the Beneficiary Account number and if I enter the Correspondent Account Number it says she lives in the US! I can feel a trip to the bank coming on on Monday! Unless anyone here can tell me if the BONY account is the one to send money too? |

Suggest that you visit your bank initially.....I did, since then I use the internet for swift transferrs.... DO NOT use the US banks details, only the RU bank details..... One of the banks I use in the UK transferrs monies to RU via the US, think its lloyds, dont know why, as the others do not show on receipt transfer via the US.... Reccomend that you pay both the sending AND receiving charges when you send monies, else the RU bank takes much more.... Hope this helps...
