Location: South Yorkshire | If you got a kid or two get a family railcard and save (1/3) that way. Last time we did the trip to London it cost us £31 for 2 adults and 1 child. The way to do it is to buy 2 singles and not a return saving money! |

Is the cost of fuel to London , parking in London Heathrow, makes the overall travel cost then unacceptable. This does include the extra hours of time lost in doing the journey from Chesterfield region!

I agree
Everybody is talking about cheap flights.......except Malcolm who prefers to fly the Flag, on the worlds most (appaling) favorite airline
To give the correct picture you should include the full cost of your itinerary, dates, times and the airline.
I live between Gatwick and Heathrow and always I can find much cheaper flights with any of the airlines...... as you can too, but I don't have to pay parking neither transport to the airport.
Then any connecting times is important too, if you have to spent a day in Moscow or anywhere else before arriving to your destination.

| Rossiya normally range in price from £180-£199 for a direct 3 hour flight from London to St Petersburg, I usually book with them via last minute.

Location: Oxfordshire and St Petersburg | book directly with rossiya via the internet, you will not pay any agency fees, and you can get an e ticket to print out at home.
not sure why people knock BA, I have used czech, Rossiya, aeroflot, swissair, KLM, easyjet and Pyanair as well as BA to fly to various places in europe inthe last year, and I would rather fly with BA than any of the others. Yes, they did lose my bags once, and sometimes they are not on time, but, they are safe, the on board service is good, and you know exactly what you are paying before you fly! Check in at T5 is working well now
at least they don't charge you to use the toilet! |

 Location: novosibirsk | Acuwa,
Have you tried the transaero office in london. Speak to a lady called Tatiana. The number is on a link below, she tells me she can beat the price of any flight to Moscow then Novosibirsk booked through opodo, ebookers etc. Although i dont think they can compete on flights just to moscow. The last few times i flew with them the moscow - london flight was BMI anyway. They are part of the same company.
If going from manchester consider going to frankfurt or dusseldorf first then moscow it may not be cheaper and may be an hours wait in Frankfurt but you arent going backwards to go forwards if you know what i mean.

Location: London | I fly BA because it has the most convenient times.
I don't want to arrive in Moscow in the middle of the night nor do I want to stand around waiting for a connecting flight or take a chance missing a connecting flight.
I have never had a problem with BA but I did when I went with BMI. I saved about £20 but the plane was crap, the service was crap, the staff were crap and the flight was crap. Maybe I was just unlucky.
I can understand why people want to save money but for me the main thing is getting where I want to go with the minimum amount of trouble.
You get what you pay for. |

Otherwise, you pay your money, you take your chances.....
Always BA for me,and of course you collect your airmailes with BA,now we are just using a small percentage of them to get my wifes return flight to Moscow and paying only £73.00.
So i bet nobody can beat that price!!!!!!!! |

Location: London | Just for the record, my usual itinerary is as follows:
Leave home 04.35
First train from Romford to Liverpool Street 04.53, arrive Liverpool Street 05.17
Liverpool Street to Heathrow by tube, arrive Heathrow approx 06.45
cost of journey £6.50
BA872 dep 08.55
arrive Moscow DME 15.50
17.00 Aeroexpress train from DME arrives Paveletskaya 17.45
cost 200 Rbl
Paveletskaya Metro to Rechnoi Vokzal approx 30 mins
cost 20 Rbl
Arrive at Anna's apartment approx 18.30 just in time for tea.
The return journey is on BA 873 dep DME 17.10, arr LHR 18.20
Tube and train home, arrive back home approx 21.00
BMI times are OK but I don't like their planes, Airbus 320, single aisle, 3-a-side, small seats and not much legroom. Very uncomfortable.

Good idea so everybody can post the latest news.............
It looks that I am th only one who has to pay double the money from last year to visit Ufa
KD canceled the cheaper flights and Aeroflot and Rossiya put teh prices up.
Domedetovo is not convinient for me and more expensive too!
Malcolm
I agree about BMI. It was always terrible and few years back I had to replace the whole programme from London to Corfu, based on their flights A320 because of the amount of complains I was receiving against their service!
Nick
Now that you learned to fly the Discovery...... you are getting best air miles.....just paying the tax.......My last trip to Ufa was only £98 because of my airmiles on Aeroflot!

| I'm the same at Malcom, I would much rather pay a higher price to ensure I get to St Petersburg when I intended to and not be hanging around Airports, waiting for bags, rushing around or lounging around waiting for flight connections.
From door to door today it took me 7 hours 10 minutes from St Petersburg to Sussex flying into Gatwick, this even included hanging around for the Train. |
